FaceTime was launched in 2010 and quickly became a major ecosystem within the Apple enterprise. One Apple worker said, FaceTime can make a Steve Jobs so impressed.
Launching 9to5Mac, this is told by Justin Santamaria, who is a former lead engineer for the iPhone. Santamaria joined Apple in 2003 as a build engineer.
In 2009, he was the engineering manager of the team in charge of user interface and functionality, Message and FaceTime applications on iPhone, iPod, and iPad. One of the moments he can't forget is when he and his team gave the Apple founder the first FaceTime demo.
"I was in the boss's office with the team and someone in another room, and another person in another room. We were on four computers and I remember being instructed that whatever happens, just pretend everything is going well," Santamaria told the Techmeme Podcast.
"It's beta software, a few weeks before launch, and when FaceTime goes 'woom', he (Steve Jobs) appears in 3D, and I remember Steve saying 'Oh my God, I can shock people'," he continued.
FaceTime is an exclusive video calling product developed by Apple Inc. FaceTime is available on supported iOS mobile devices iOS 4 and later and Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and later.
Furthermore, apart from FaceTime, Santamaria also talked about the blue/green text bubble which is currently being controversial, as well as efforts to make emojis available for people outside of Japan.
