NASA plans to send the location of Planet Earth into space. This is considered unwise by this expert from the University of Oxford because it could be aliens with evil intentions planning to invade Earth once they receive such a message.
A binary coded message called the Beacon of the Galaxy will transmit information about our Solar System, Earth, the biochemical composition of the planet and human existence, to locations in the Milky Way galaxy where aliens may live.
The plan, as quoted by us from the Daily Mail, the message will be emitted by powerful telescopes from Earth, such as the Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope in China.
Anders Sandberg as a senior researcher at Oxford's Future of Humanity Institute (FHI) considered the action risky. Although the chances of the message reaching the aliens are small, if it does happen, the impact can be very large.
According to him, the danger of alien attack was not taken seriously. "A lot of people refuse to take it seriously which is a shame because it's something important," he said.
Toby Ord, Anders' colleague at Oxford, in his book The Precipice also alludes to the same thing. The main question is what is the ratio between peaceful and evil alien civilizations.
"We have very little evidence as to whether it is low or high and there is no scientific consensus. Since the negatives can far outweigh the positives, it doesn't seem good to actively contact (them)," he wrote.
Indeed, so far there is no evidence whether aliens really exist. But neither can it be proven conclusively that they do not exist in this universe.
