Spotify Update Makes Some Features Disappear

The latest update to the Spotify app on Android has complained about a number of users, because some features are missing such as playback and notifications.

This issue has also been reported on the Spotify and Reddit community forums. In the report, users on the regular playback bar at the bottom of Spotify for Android have disappeared this means the app can't recognize what's playing.

Also there is no notification on the Android device to know that Spotify is playing.

As such, it will also enable things that would normally not be possible, like listening to a song on Spotify while playing a YouTube video.

According to 9to5google, when they were testing the latest version of Spotify live, they experienced music playback being cut off completely or stuttering for a few seconds.

The exact cause of the bug has yet to be found, although Spotify has publicly acknowledged the issue and made a request for additional information from those affected.

So far the majority of these reports have been on Android 12 devices, meaning most of those with issues are on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, although there have also been reports of Spotify playback issues on OnePlus devices.

One simple way to solve the problem on your device is to install a version of the Spotify app which is older than version 8.7.20.1261.

However, since Spotify doesn't allow its apps to be uploaded to the app filing site, it would be safer to wait for the company to roll out a new update in the coming weeks.
