The first solar eclipse this year will occur April 30, 2022. There are many countries that can witness this natural phenomenon.
The moments when the Sun is partially closed by the Moon will be visible from Antarctica, the southern tip of South America, the Pacific Ocean region and the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately the eclipse this time did not pass from Indonesia. But we can watch it online.
The partial solar eclipse on April 30 will occur starting at 2:45 pm EDT local time or 01:45 WIB on May 1, 2022. Meanwhile, the peak of the eclipse will be at 16:41 EDT local time or 03:41 WIB.
This is the 66th eclipse of 71 eclipses in the Saros 119 cycle. The maximum magnitude (width) of this eclipse is 63.89% of the angular diameter of the Sun.
"This partial solar eclipse coincides with the conjunction at the end of the month of Ramadan 1443 H, so it is possible that the new moon can be seen at sunset, after the eclipse," said Andi Pangerang, researcher at the BRIN Space Research Center, quoted from the BRIN Space Science Education website.
A partial solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon when the Earth, Moon, and Sun lie in a straight line. The surface of the Sun as observed from Earth is only partially covered by the Moon.
"This is because the shadow of the Moon that falls on the Earth's surface is only a penumbral / pseudo shadow, while the core umbra shadow is outside the Earth's surface," Andi wrote.
The area covered by the Moon's umbral shadow will experience a Partial Solar Eclipse, while the area covered by the Moon's umbral shadow will experience a Total Solar Eclipse.
The next partial solar eclipse is scheduled for October 25. This phenomenon will be seen from Europe, Northeast Africa, the Middle East and West Asia.
There will be no total solar eclipse this year. We can only see the sun completely covered by the moon in 2023.
