DJI seems to be really uncomfortable with their drones, they even became one of the mainstays in the war between Russia and Ukraine. The Chinese drone giant has decided to suspend its business operations in both countries.
"While conducting a review, DJI has temporarily suspended all business activities in Russia and Ukraine," said a DJI statement quoted by Zdnet, Wednesday (27/4/2022).
"We are speaking with consumers, partners and other stakeholders regarding the temporary suspension of business operations in the affected areas," they added.
Previously, DJI had criticized the use of its drones for military purposes. They emphasized that DJI products should not be used for the military at all but should only be used for useful things.
If they find out that their partners are selling DJI drones for military purposes, they have given an ultimatum to immediately cut off the business relationship. Now, in fact, DJI has completely stopped operating in both Russia and Ukraine.
"We will never accept the use of our products to cause harm," DJI said in an earlier statement.
As reported, both the drones and DJI technology have been utilized by the Ukrainian and Russian parties. Ukraine used it for reconnaissance missions in which many civilian drone users took part in the action. Russia mainly uses DJI's technology known as AeroScope to track the position of Ukrainian drones.
"Drones are our eyes. If Russian artillery prepares to attack, we can switch to relying on drones from civilians. It is possible to attack as a deterrent and to save civilians," said a Ukrainian soldier regarding the use of drones including those made by DJI.
