Want to buy Twitter, Elon Musk even mocks Mark Zuckerberg

Last weekend Elon Musk made a scene after expressing his intention to buy Twitter. It wasn't long before he criticized Mark Zuckerberg for owning multiple social media platforms.

Speaking at a TED conference last weekend, Musk accused Zuckerberg of having too much control over public conversation because he owns Meta, the parent company that houses Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

"Regarding the type of media ownership, I mean, there's Mark Zuckerberg who owns Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp and with a share ownership structure that makes Mark Zuckerberg XIV still control those entities," Musk said. 2022).

"We wouldn't have anything like that on Twitter," he continued.

In his comments, Musk seemed to be referring to King Louis XIV who ruled France for 72 years. Louis XIV was also known as the 'Sun King' who had immense power and wealth.

Musk himself offered to buy all Twitter shares for a value of USD 43.4 billion. Previously, Musk had bought a 9.2% stake in Twitter and was about to join Twitter's board of directors but was cancelled.

Regarding his potential holdings, Musk said he would make Twitter's algorithm open source and transparent. The richest person in the world also indicated that Twitter would be a platform that prioritizes free speech over censorship.

Musk himself has several times criticized Twitter's moderation policies, especially regarding COVID-19 misinformation and demonstrations at the US Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla has also had several critical wars with Zuckerberg. In 2016, Zuckerberg admitted to being disappointed after one of SpaceX's rockets exploded while about to launch a Facebook-owned satellite.

Musk is also one of the supporters of the #deletefacebook movement after the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Not long after, Musk immediately deleted the Facebook accounts belonging to Tesla and SpaceX.
