Wearing Face Mask In The Open Is No Longer Mandatory In Malaysia Starting May 1, 2022

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced a moment ago that the wearing of face masks in the open and the requirement for MySejahtera code scanning will no longer be mandatory in Malaysia from May 1. In addition, individuals with incomplete vaccination status will no longer be barred from entering any premises. Premises owners only need to ensure the negative status of Covid-19 only.

Wearing face masks is still mandatory indoors and public transport including vehicles are excited to drive. The release of wearing face masks indoors is allowed in dining areas, when exercising, and those performing for example. High -risk, symptomatic and at -risk individuals are still advised to wear face masks.

The steps taken are in line with those already done in Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. The declining number of new cases and preparation for the endemic phase is the main reason why the SOP has been updated today.
