The influence of technology plays a large role in influencing predictions of how humans will evolve in the next thousand years. Along with the times, humans continue to speculate about the form of their life in the future.
In the early 1900s, humans tended to predict the future with sophistication and the proliferation of robots and flying cars. In recent years. Human evolution itself seems to be the main focus in imagining life in the future, from physical form to genes.
Here are five predictions for human evolution in the next thousand years, as reported by us from Business Insider.
1. Get Taller
Over the last 130 years, the human body has tended to experience an increase in height. In 1880, the average height of men in the plains of America was in the range of 170 cm.
Meanwhile, at this time, the average height of the male population in the same place has almost reached 180 cm. If calculated roughly, then in the next thousand years the average human height can touch the figure of 2.5 m.
2. Cyborg
The human body is very likely to be infiltrated by various technologies to improve the senses and health. For example, a team from the University of Oregon is developing a bionic eye that allows blind people to see.
Reflecting on this, it is not impossible that there will be technology that makes humans see as if they have infrared and x-ray 'features' in their bionic eyes.
3. Mutant
Like the characters in the X-Men comics, humans can become mutants in the future. Although it will not be as strong as Wolverine, DNA changes in the mutation process can make humans 'immune' to various diseases with gene editing tools such as CRISPR.
A study by the University of Oxford on a group of HIV-infected children in South Africa showed that they can live healthy and normal lives through defenses in their genes that prevent the virus from developing into AIDS.
4. Aliens
With the incessant projects from SpaceX, Blue Origin, to Boeing to move humans to Mars, it is not impossible that people on Earth will see the inhabitants of the red planet in the future as 'alien'.
This is due to the low exposure to the sun (66% less than Earth) on Mars, which enlarges human pupils to make it easier for them to see and the lack of gravity on Mars (38% from Earth) which results in growth in the height of the alien creatures there.
5. Body swapping
Perhaps, this is one of the most extreme predictions, and it is clear that some consider it impossible. Researchers in Italy and China are conducting animal experiments, using mice as the experimental medium, to determine the possibility of a head transplant.
They also admit that humans will become their targets later. By 'downloading' the brain contents of the 'guinea pig' in advance, the researchers hope that they will not only transplant the head, but also transfer the thoughts, memories, and abilities of each participant.
