There are several formats used by ebook publishers in the market. Amazon Kindle as the world's most popular ebook reader from the very beginning refused to support the EPUB format even though it is supported by Google Play Books and Apple Books. But through the latest Kindle support documents, Amazon will finally support EPUB by the end of 2022.
Files in EPUB format can be sent to Kindle via the Send to Kindle feature. It will then be converted to KF8 (AZW3) format automatically to ensure compatibility. Meanwhile, support for MOBI formats (.AZW and .MOBI) will be discontinued as it does not support some new features on the Kindle.
