Apple, Google And Microsoft Support FIDO Alliance Standards For A Password -Free World

Apple, Google and Microsoft today announced they will support FIDO Alliance standards to simplify the online sign -in process without users having to type in a password. After this the user no longer needs to enter the password but instead verifies the identity using a biometric system of fingerprint scanning or face verification.

If a user wants to log in to an account via a web browser for example, a notification will be received on the smartphone to scan a fingerprint or face for identity verification. Through this FIDO Alliance standard, biometric systems will be supported on three of the world’s major operating systems. With personal information stored in the cloud and requiring biometric authentication, the issue of hacked accounts will be able to be resolved in the near future.
