Apple has filed a lawsuit against Rivos for allegedly stealing employees and company -owned secrets. According to Apple, the pioneering company has 40 former employees of the company who know the secrets behind the A and M series chips. This will then be used by Rivos to produce SOCs that compete directly with Apple's chips in the future.
Also sued are two former employees who allegedly transferred hundreds of Gigabytes of data out of work computers before starting work at Rivos. This includes chip design information that has not yet been released by Apple.
Apple bypassed an injunction imposed on employees who joined Rivos to prevent them from further divulging company secrets and seeking damages. In return Apple would like to seek compensation in the form of a reasonable royalty for each technology used. The amount of compensation requested has not been determined.
