Amazon Web Services or AWS is now reportedly committed to investing in Malaysia and making Malaysia a data center hub in Southeast Asia.
With this move, it is expected to further accelerate the development of the digital arena and the digital economy in Malaysia. The opening of data centers will also come with increased access rates, as well as form a local talent and workforce that is comfortable developing for these specialized platforms.
For now, the government and AWS are in discussions between the two sides in further understanding, including looking at the incentives requested by AWS.
In addition to AWS, Microsoft has previously been committed in training many local talents under the "Bersama Malaysia Microsoft" program, since 2021.
