Experts reveal shocking news. Elon Musk, as the person who wanted to bring Twitter, allegedly used certain reasons, to play the purchase price of the social media platform.
The acquisition itself was valued at USD 44 billion, and is still rolling today. However, it is known that the Tesla CEO postponed the deal, pending confirmation of the number of bot accounts in it.
Where according to him, the number of 5% bot accounts exposed by Twitter, looks very suspicious. Then he agreed, the acquisition value would decrease, if in fact as many as 25% of fake accounts resided on the platform, as reported by Business Insider India, Monday (30/5/2022).
So the purchase price will be cheaper. This is because, the potential for a decline is very large, reaching USD 11 billion.
But unfortunately, scrutiny of Elon Musk is increasing over this acquisition. The billionaire is now under pressure to make a takeover decision before his net worth declines further.
Experts say he has two options, namely the first to resume negotiations. Then second, walk away from the deal.
Meanwhile, Twitter has estimated that of the 229 million active users, at least less than 5% of bot accounts. However, the numbers differ from research conducted by Dan Brahmy, CEO of Israeli technology company Cyabra.
He revealed that the percentage is bigger, which is estimated at 13.7%. While Musk has a different opinion, where the number is at least up to 20%.
Despite the many assumptions running around, most experts argue, it is indeed very difficult to count the number of bots on Twitter. However, the real numbers for active users, become the key points for the final price of this deal.
"If it is proven that 25% of users are actually bots, then advertisers will ask for lower rates, if Twitter can't filter this out," said Mark Weinstein, founder of MeWe.
