Elon Musk wants to open a Tesla factory in Indonesia, Malaysian netizens are jealous

The news that Tesla CEO Elon Musk wants to open a factory in Batang, Indonesia, has caused a stir in Malaysia as well. They are jealous of Indonesia.

This assurance was conveyed by the Minister of Investment, Bahlil Lahadalia. Cooperation with Tesla will be carried out in two fields, namely batteries and electric cars.

"There (Batang) there will be big companies, such as LG, Foxconn, and Tesla, God willing, will enter there," said Bahlil at the Alila Hotel, Solo, Wednesday (18/5).

Bahlil's announcement was after President Jokowi's meeting with Elon Musk in America. This meeting and the announcement about the Tesla factory opening, apparently caused a stir in neighboring Malaysia.

The reactions of Malaysian netizens are very lively on Twitter's timeline. Both public figures and ordinary people in Malaysia admit that they are jealous of Indonesia, which can hook Elon Musk.

They compare Indonesia as more advanced in technology and investment. Meanwhile, they feel Malaysia will be left behind in terms of technology.

President Jokowi's approach to Elon Musk is compared to the steps taken by Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri, who is considered not to have done anything. Here are some comments from Malaysian netizens on Twitter about Elon Musk wanting to open a Tesla factory in Indonesia:

"Elon Musk knows he will make money in Indonesia not Malaysia," commented @weechookeong.

"Elon musk got brains. Why would he invest in Malaysia where there is no rule of law? And a flawed democratic system?" said @waiming81519502.

"Hey your president is limited to two terms.. can we have him as our PM in Malaysia after?" joked @chepac.

"The future of Indonesia is very bright - Elon Musk. Congratulations Indonesia. Malaysia can emulate Indonesia on this and many other fronts. We just need a better PM," said @KatieBr15263543.

"Pak Jokowi went to America to meet Elon Musk and went to Space X. Ismail Sabri has a style too - he went to London for the Malaysian Family program hshshshs," criticized @luqmanlong.
