Google has just released a new set of black and white emojis. This emoji is inspired by nostalgia for a time when technology was simpler and only offered 176 emoji.
The number of past and present emojis is of course a stark contrast to today's which has more than 3,633 emoji in Unicode Standard, as of September 2021. To make this nostalgia come true, Google took the Noto Emoji Color font and removed the color.
Google Noto Emoji Font is an open source typeface that can meet the emoji needs of users of electronic devices including more than 3,000 fonts that have been registered with the Unicode Standard.
Quoted from XDA Developer, this is a challenge for Google so that there are no problems caused when the colors from existing emoji are removed, so as not to cause wrong perceptions.
Despite reducing some elements in its appearance, this font retains the beauty of modern technology, and users can customize colors, as well as dark and light mode functions.
Well, for those of you who miss the days when old school cellphones were victorious, please download these emojis on your device via Google Fonts.
