2019 was Huawei's toughest year, where the Chinese brand was blacklisted in the United States. Huawei is blocked from US trade because it is considered a danger to national security.
Huawei is also prohibited from working with technology companies in the US. Since then, Huawei has also focused more on its local market by launching smartphones, laptops and other gadget accessories.
Huawei will soon launch its newest product, a tracking device that will make it easier for users to find their lost items, this device is called the Huawei Tag Smart Tracker.
Prior to the release this device had appeared on the Bluetooth SIG certification website, with the model number KRI-CE010.
Launching from mysmartprice, Wednesday (18/5/2022) according to a list on the Bluetooth SIG, the Huawei Tag will use Bluetooth 5.1 for connectivity.
Similar to Apple's product AirTag, this device will track the device to find it. Huawei's smart tags may also use ultra-wideband technology like Apple's to use other devices as beacons to find lost devices.
It is unknown if Huawei will also use a dedicated chip like Apple's U1 in the AirTag for precise location tracking. More details of the Huawei smart tag will emerge in the coming days.
Huawei itself has not revealed the launch date of its new smart tag. However, given that this product is also listed on the Bluetooth SIG for certification purposes, one can expect this device to be launched in the near future.
Huawei's smart tags are likely only available in China. However, it is not surprising that Huawei launched its products in other markets. Because previously Huawei launched smartwatches and TWS earbuds in India even though it did not launch smartphones in that country.
However, since this tag product relies on a smartphone not currently being sold in India, it doesn't look like it will end here. Nonetheless, Indian consumers are favoring Apple's AirTag and even Samsung's smart tags as alternatives in the market.
