Elon Musk met with President Joko Widodo, May 14, 2022. On that occasion, Musk said that Indonesia has a large population and this is really needed for the future -- also Mars.
On the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, a video of the SpaceX boss and Tesla together with Jokowi was uploaded on the president's visit to SpaceX's headquarters in Boca Chica. Musk seemed to answer a number of questions that were put to him.
First, Musk noted that Indonesia has great potential for development. Plus, Indonesia has a large population and the population continues to grow.
"This is very good, because we need a lot of people in the future. Also Mars, Mars has no inhabitants, so we need from us (Earth residents)," Musk said followed by a light laugh.
"Volunteers, it's basically volunteers, huh," he continued, still chuckling.
Elon Musk has ambitions to colonize Mars by transporting one million people from Earth. He has even made a five and a half year timeline to bring humans there. Musk has also listed a number of limitations that could hinder the timeline. He has already planned how to build Mars as an independent civilization and accompanied by technological advances.
