The Pentagon has released a video of a mysterious sighting in the sky that is suspected to be a UFO. Video of UFO sightings, or what is now known as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), was revealed in a public hearing in the United States Congress.
Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray shared two video clips recorded by members of the military before a US Congressional panel. This is the first time a UFO sighting has been discussed before Congress in 50 years.
The first video shows an unidentified glowing triangular object flying through the air. This video was taken from a US Navy ship using goggles with night vision.
Bray then shared another clip showing the same phenomenon observed from another location on a different date. He revealed that the sighting had been investigated for its origin and was an 'unmanned aerial system' or a passing drone.
The drone looks like a triangular glow due to the effect of light from the object passing through the night vision goggles and then through the lens of the SLR camera that records the video.
Bray also shared another short video, taken from the cockpit of a fighter plane in 2021. The video shows a circular object that goes by very fast, just seconds at the end of the video, and then disappears.
"I don't have an explanation of what this specific object is," said Bray, as quoted by Gizmodo, Wednesday (18/5/2022).
The trial was held 11 months after the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the UAP Task Force released reports on UFO sightings. The report lists 144 incidents of mysterious phenomena between 2004 and 2021.
While most of the reports lack answers about the reported phenomena, and do not mention the words 'alien' or 'UFOs', they do seem to encourage members of the US military to report suspected UFO sightings they encounter.
"Since the release of the initial report, the UAP Task Force's database has now grown to about 400 reports. The stigma has been reduced," said Bray.
Bray said the Pentagon had difficulty identifying these objects because of the lack of high-quality data and reports. He hopes this changes as soon as the UAP Task Force receives more reports.
He also invites physicists, opticians, meteorologists, and other fields to help categorize UFO sightings. Currently the UAP Task Force does not receive reports from the general public.
"Our ultimate goal is to transition UAP's efforts from an anecdotal or narrative-based approach to rigorous science and technology focused studies," said Bray.
"The message is clear, if you see something you need to report it."
