Personal Details Of 22.5 Million Malaysians Are Said To Be Sold On The Dark Web At A Price Of RM40 Thousand

Last year, it was reported that a group of hackers had sold the personal details of 4 million Malaysians on the black market. Recently, the same group of hackers was seen coming forward again, saying that they had the details of 22.5 million Malaysians stolen from the National Registration Department.

Based on what we can see, the group has details such as the identity card number, the name of the owner of the identity card, date of birth, home address, gender and registered telephone number.

The group of hackers also said that the data set this time contained details of Malaysians born in 1940 to 2004, and they were seen wanting to sell this data for $ 10,000 in Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

So far it is not known whether the National Registration Department is aware of this latest data theft problem, whether it is a new hacking issue, or whether the group only released a small group of people's data for sale before.
