Physicists Respond to Watch Spider-Man Movies Until Dr Strange

A series of films aired with the theme of multiverse, time travel, and other scientific concepts. Call it a number of films from Marvel, Spider-Man: No Way Home or Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which were recently shown, the concept of the multiverse was also raised.

Seeing the trend of science fiction-themed films, Handhika S. Ramadhan, Ph.D, a Physics Lecturer at the University of Indonesia prefers to look at this from the positive side

"In science fiction, we can learn. My response may be positive, yes, Hollywood films are starting to adopt serious physical theories or serious scientific theories, that there really is fiction, it's also called a film, we can't expect a film that adopts a 100% standard scientific theory," he said on the show 'Eureka! Issue 5: Multiverse', Monday (23/5/2022).

"Hopefully it can be a source of interest, open awareness for the younger generation when they watch these films, not only in terms of entertainment but they are also intrigued by what is the multiverse? Or what is time travel?" continued]

With the growing interest, Handhika hopes that science education and technology development will be driven by existing films. He wants thanks to the film to produce more scientific human resources in Indonesia.

Handhika herself felt the impact of sci-fi films, where she was moved to study physics at first because she watched her favorite science fiction films. His favorite films are Terminator and The Matrix.

"I myself, if I may tell you, the science fiction film when I was little that inspired me about time travel was Terminator, one of them. It made me think about the concept of time travel and all its consequences. Sometimes it's absurd, sometimes it's interesting, there's also the concept of a grandfather paradox, but the film is enough to describe especially the first two films," he said with a smile.

If so, what movie did you like the most?
