The Samsung Galaxy Series A has played a big role in sustaining its mobile business in recent months. A report from Counterpoint Research says the series has accounted for 58% of smartphone sales in 2021 and dominated the Android 5G phone segment in February yesterday.
According to Counterpoint, Samsung Galaxy devices accounted for nearly 24% of global Android 5G smartphone sales in February. Five models are included in Counterpoint's list of best Android 5G devices.
Interestingly, the Galaxy A52s 5G occupies the top position as the best -selling Android 5G phone in the world, surpassing the best 5G phones. This achievement was not entirely unexpected, given that the model had been on this list for the previous six months in a row and became a bestseller mainly in Western Europe.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G is in second position thanks to its strong performance in the United States and South Korea. According to Counterpoint, its flagship model accounted for two -thirds of total Galaxy S22 series sales in February.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G and Galaxy A32 5G are in third and fourth position respectively. This is an impressive upgrade for the Galaxy S21 FE 5G, which ranked tenth in January. This is associated with the US and German markets. Other places are occupied by 5G models from Chinese OEMs, including Honor, Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi.
"The Chinese market is driving sales for these smartphones. 5G has become the standard offering in China with 5G penetration in the country reaching 83% by February 2022," Counterpoint said in a blog post.
This is in line with a previous research firm report, which showed that 5G smartphone sales reached 51% globally in January, largely due to increased 5G adoption by Chinese brands. China reached an 84% penetration of 5G smartphone sales worldwide in January.
The report implies that Samsung's recent efforts to democratize 5G and bring next-generation mobile network standards to more affordable devices have borne fruit.
It's a safe bet that Samsung's latest budget -friendly 5G phones, such as the Galaxy A53, A33, and A73 5G models, will also strengthen the company's position in this market in the near future.
