Starlink Representatives Will Be In Malaysia Next Week To Discuss The Introduction Of Their Satellite Internet Service

Last week, we reported that Starlink announced official support in 32 countries where Malaysia is expected to enjoy satellite internet connectivity by 2023.

Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato 'Seri Azmin Ali later said that he welcomed Starlink to the Malaysian market, saying that the service could be utilized in rural and remote areas where it is difficult to pull fiber optic cables or to develop telecommunication substations.

Recently, he explained further and said that representatives from Starlink will arrive in Malaysia next week to discuss further on policies to introduce the satellite internet service in the country.

Starlink will reportedly meet with MIDA to discuss further how Starlink can offer their internet services here, which as said before, may be introduced in 2023.

In the meantime, it has also been reported that a company in Johor is seen as one of the key entities in developing important components for the Starlink satellites that have already been launched into space.

According to the package displayed, Starlink offers internet access up to 500Mbps, but at a very high price, which is RM2100 per month.
