TikTok launched a new feature that makes it easy for users to give a credit to their favorite creators because through their videos they have inspired.
Later is a new button where users can tag, mention, and give credit to videos in the description. This new button will also be launched in the next few weeks.
"Today, we introduce a new tool to better enable content creator credit and fair attribution for our community of content creators and content creators," TikTok's Creator Community Director Kudzi Chikumbu was quoted as saying by Engadget, Sunday (22/5/2022) .
The marking feature has actually been available to users for a long time, but the presence of this new feature encourages them to give due credit to the original work of the creator.
When users mimic other people's dance moves, jokes, memes, or audio, adding attribution to their original TikTok video will be easier.
"These features are an important step in our ongoing commitment to investing in resources and product experiences that support a credit culture, which is important to ensure TikTok remains a home for creative expression," explained Chikumbu.
This feature appeared after many black creators in June 2021 had left TikTok. They stopped sharing the challenge of dancing and mentioned the lack of awards they received in an effort to gain more recognition.
TikTok also said that they strongly emphasize the importance of including proper attribution for trend triggers, including trick tips on how to find something that many people have never done before.
To use the feature, once a user has created or edited a TikTok video tap the new 'video' icon on the post page then select the video they liked, favorited, posted, or that already used the same sound.
Once this video is selected, TikTok will add it as a tag in the caption. Tap will explain the credit feature after tapping the icon. Those whose videos are tagged by other creators' content will be notified when one of their videos is tagged in that way
