As promised, Ukraine began receiving new weaponry, namely Harpoon missiles to shoot ships from Denmark, and Howitzer cannons from the United States. Both of these advanced weapons to fight Russia.
Ukraine's Defense Minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, said the aid would strengthen its military in the fight against the Russian invasion, which had not yet abated.
Harpoon speed can reach 864 kilometers per hour. The maximum range is about 139 kilometers from the ship and 220 kilometers from the air. It can be different depending on the model. Another plus, Harpoon is easy to move around.
While Horowitz is a kind of cannon that also has a long range to shoot enemies. The presence of these two new weapons is expected to strengthen Ukrainian ports.
"The defense on the coasts of our country will not only be strengthened by Harpoon missiles, but will also be used by trained Ukrainian teams," Reznikov said.
The Harpoons will be operated in conjunction with Ukrainian-made Neptune missiles to protect coastal areas, including in the Odesa region which is currently being bombarded by Russia.
"So many Harpoons have been given to us that we can sink the entire Russian fleet in the Black Sea. Why not?" said Serhiy Bratchuk, military spokesman in Odesa.
Ukraine is also still hoping for more sophisticated long-range rocket systems, such as the M270 from the United States. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is confident that the number of their weapons will reach the point of surpassing Russian weapons in terms of technology and firepower.
"Of course a lot depends on our partners and their readiness to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to protect its independence. And I look forward to good news next week," he said.
