Vivo X is Vivo's flagship device series in Malaysia. It comes with great and powerful specifications, uses premium design, comes with professional photography capabilities, as well as the Vivo series that competes with other flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, OnePlus 10 Pro or even the iPhone 13 Pro.
Their latest device is the Vivo X80 series and the one that has arrived, since a week ago is the Vivo X80 Pro. In this article I will share the experience of using this device in a short period of time. Is this the best photography device of the year?

Usage Experience
The Vivo X80 Pro is a pretty awesome landmark device in my opinion. It is clearly trying to compete with premium brands like Samsung and Apple, moreover trying to compete in the photography division. Meanwhile, other premium features are also not forgotten to make their device one of the best on the market. The 6.78-inch AMOLED QHD+ screen on this device is quite beautiful and bright.
The high refresh rate of 120Hz also helps to make the user experience faster and does not give any scrolling problems or time lag in the process of opening or closing the application. The curved screen may be annoying to some people, I don’t like when watching videos because the content also enters the curved area. But the streaming quality of Netflix, HDR10+ is no problem to achieve, so is YouTube.
This device is nice to hold in the hand, it is comfortable. But will give one worry it easily falls on the hands, due to the overly slippery back panel finish. It has a rough feel to sandstone, but it doesn’t have a good grip. Despite the giant -sized camera hump, the device is still balanced and comfortable to operate.
The design of the Vivo X80 Pro undeniably looks sexy and beautiful. This black color made me fall in love with this device. It has a bit of a feel as if holding the OnePlus 9 Pro, but the Vivo feels much more premium. Then, the big hump of this camera also indirectly flattens the device a bit when it is on a flat surface. It does not tip over and the hump does not bulge either. The top and bottom of the device are slightly flat, above there is a microphone hole and infrared sensor and below there is a SIM card slot, a microphone hole, as well as a speaker lattice. The power button and volume button are a little thin and less comfortable, but after a few days it just feels okay.
The Funtouch OS running this device is Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12. Unlike other brands, the security update is already April or May - Vivo is still with the Mac. It also tries to implement the use of widgets as if it were Origin OS in China, however the experience of using widgets of this device on my pad is not very user friendly. The smart widgets on offer are also not attractive enough.
Funtouch OS is also among the Chinese operating systems that still use their own SMS and telephony applications compared to the use of Google Phone and Google Messages on many devices now. Android 12 elements like custom color themes, privacy controls and security are all excellent. I'm familiar with the original Android, One UI and MIUI have no problem finding the ins and outs of Funtouch OS.
The layout of the settings is a bit confusing, the use of color also doesn’t suit my soul and the most I hate is that every time I install an app from the Play Store there will definitely be ads that can’t be deleted.
The performance of the device is surprisingly straightforward no serious problems. Throughout the use of the device there is never a time lag, applications get stuck or the system crashes. Extreme use is only available on the camera which makes the device heat up to a level difficult to hold. But the use of other applications, there is no problem of heating up to one week of use.
The battery isn’t much I can share anymore, but 80W believe it or not I feel like a slow charge as I’m familiar with devices that offer 120W. But this Vivo X80 Pro has no charging problems and the battery so far is still the standard use of any Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 device which is around 4-5 hours SOT.
The audio on this device is still unsatisfactory, but thankfully it is stereo. It is still unbalanced and lacks an interesting audio profile. This makes the listening experience with this device not so much fun. The Vivo X80 Pro also has an infrared sensor allowing users to turn the device into a remote control. Then the bottom -of -screen fingerprint scanner is also pretty fast, where the S22 Ultra is a bit behind.
Camera
The Vivo X80 Pro once again focuses on the camera. Camera configuration is 50MP, f/1.6 (Main) + 8MP, f/3.4 (Telephoto) + 12MP, f/1.9 (Telephoto) + 48MP, f/2.2 (Ultra Wide Angle) with OIS gimbal support, 5x Optical Zoom, Zeiss T* lenses and pretty amazing software.
The camera app is easy to use. It has a Zeiss icon that can be turned on or off, giving users the choice of whether to use a Zeiss color profile or an artificial intelligence system on a device powered by the Vivo V1 +’s own ISP. In simple use, such as taking short Hari Raya videos and Hari Raya photos-the device is found to be easy to heat up even in less than 10 minutes of use.
No warnings are given, which should be automatic so that the device does not continue to be used. Even so the results on my hemar are quite satisfactory. Portrait mode no matter front or back, has eye -pleasing results with well -preserved details. The automatic mode is also quite great for the colors displayed, while the beauty mode for adding makeup on female users or rejuvenating older male users is also not a problem.
The night mode is quite great on this device with the support of various filters and interesting modes to make the user of this device achah as a professional photographer. For macros, by default it is turned on automatically and to take macro pictures just need to place the device at a close distance from the subject because the application will change the focus on its own. Video recording mode is also easy to use and user friendly. While there are many settings and options, users are easy to get used to.
Conclusion
Overall, using this device for a week didn’t give me any serious problems except the device heats up when less than 10 minutes of using the camera. The camera results in amazing, fast performance, beautiful screen and the device also feels premium and luxurious. But for the lackluster audio capabilities, the immature software because even the device is expensive is filled with ads as well as this still uncertain battery life - RM4,999 is quite expensive.
OnePlus 10 Pro is priced at RM4,199, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at RM5,099, iPhone 13 Pro starts at RM4,899, Oppo Find X5 Pro is still unknown - Xiaomi is not even up to RM4K, Realme and Poco are under RM3K and in around RM2.5K. The price of RM4,199 is not an attractive price for a device for which ads cannot be turned off.
But if buying because of the camera, because of the performance and want the Zeiss name-I think the camera capabilities between this device and Samsung both have their respective specialties. But I would choose the Vivo X80 Pro camera.
