WhatsApp Companion Mode Will Allow One Number On Two Devices

The device -linked feature on WhatsApp to use WhatsApp on many devices is among the most interesting and useful updates for me. If my phone is dead, I can access the WhatsApp Web via Safari on the iPad or directly on my computer.

However, WhatsApp is still not able to provide a Telegram -like feature which is a number on many devices with all chat history permanently stored.

Last month I reported that WhatsApp was developing a Companion mode feature to make second phones able to use WhatsApp with the same number.

WABetaInfo recently found a new update on this feature. WhatsApp Companion Mode will use the same concept with linked devices. Scan QR codes on new devices only, only as opposed to WhatsApp Web or WhatsAppp Desktop - this time it may be through the WhatsApp app itself.

It is said that this feature can also be used on Android tablets. Users are also seen to need to ensure that the second device is not WhatsApp is used for smooth operation if any, WhatsApp data on the second device will be deleted if have started using this mode Companion.

Not sure yet when it will launch. The emoji reaction feature also takes months, let alone a feature like this? Hope it's easy to use and not annoying, let's wait and see.
