Amazon Boss Insults Zuckerberg's Unclear Metaverse Universe

The metaverse universe that is touted by the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, has received criticism from several parties. The latest is from Amazon's Head of Devices, David Limp.

According to him, he would not want to stay in the virtual world for 24 hours, not even a few hours per day. Not to mention that such technology will further distance people from reality. Now it's hard to communicate with children who are glued to their cell phones.

"I want to try to work on technology that makes them enjoy the real world," he quipped, as quoted by The Verge.

Not to mention, according to him, the definition of metaverse is not clear. "If I ask a few hundred people what they think about the metaverse, we'll get hundreds of different answers. We don't have a common definition," he said.

He also mentioned Augmented Reality glasses which he said were better than Virtual Reality glasses because they could at least see the real world. "But I don't like to distract them from the reality of the here and now," he added.

Previously, various criticisms had also hit Zuckerberg's concept of the metaverse. One of them is Snap's CEO who stated that his company will develop technology for the real world where people can spend time together.

Mark Zuckerberg himself is keen to promote the virtual metaverse, even changing the parent name of Facebook to Meta. Not long ago, he claimed that many future human beings would live in the metaverse universe.

In a podcast interview, the Facebook founder said there will come a time when the virtual world is so real and comfortable that users won't want to leave. Currently, this has not happened, but according to him, people are already dependent on the digital world in the form of screens.

"Many people think that the metaverse is somewhere, but one definition is when an essentially immersive digital world will become the main way we live and spend our time," he predicts.
