The story of the Apple Watch being the savior of someone's life comes again, this time the smartwatch made by Apple with its SOS feature has succeeded in helping users to call for help to emergency services after being stuck in an icy river.
According to a report from Apple Insider, the incident took place on June 15, 2022 on the Columbia River near The Dalles, Oregon. At that time there was an unnamed woman who went swimming in very cold river water conditions.
Unfortunately, the woman's leg got stuck under the rocks at the bottom of the river. This also puts him in a pretty dangerous situation considering he has no way to escape and is trapped in the icy waters.
That's when he used the SOS function on his Apple Watch to call emergency services. Luckily the Dalles City Police department swiftly responded to the crisis and started a rescue operation.
Reporting from us from Gizmochina, Sunday (26/6/2022) the woman was found in a state of exhaustion and showing signs of hypothermia.
Because at the time of the incident, it was raining on the Columbia River with a water temperature of around 13 degrees Celsius.
This isn't the first time the Apple Watch has helped save lives as a man also used the SOS feature to call for help after being trapped under the ice of a frozen river.
For information, users can use the SOS feature by pressing and holding the side button under the Digital Crown until the Emergency SOS slider appears.
Keep in mind that users must have an iPhone nearby if they don't have a cellular-based version of the Apple Watch.
