ARM has announced a new family of CPUs and GPUs to be used on a new generation of simple chips that will be introduced later this year. We start first with the new Cortex-X3 and Cortex-A715 CPUs that promise performance improvements of up to 25% and power savings of up to 20%. Also enhanced is the Cortex-A510 which now offers power savings of up to 5% and the ability to combine up to 12 cores when needed.
The Cortex-X3 still uses the Armv9 architecture like the Cortex-X2 used on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. According to ARM the Cortex-X3 is capable of offering a single-core performance improvement of up to 34% over existing laptop processors.
The Cortex-A715 provides a 5% increase in processing power at the same power consumption and at the same time a 20% reduction in power consumption at the same performance compared to previous generation chips.
Even more interesting is the Immortalis-G715 GPU which replaces the Mali GPU family that has been used for so long. The Immortalis-G715 GPU brings ray tracing support that can only be seen on consoles and PCs.
The Immortalis-G715 comes in a 10-16 core configuration to offer better graphics performance. Up to 40% increase on existing games can be enjoyed with power savings of up to 15%.
In addition, the Mali-G715 and Mali-G615 GPUs are also offered with performance that is not as good as the Immortalis-G715.
