Electric vehicles are now a trend, in order to protect the environment and save overall costs in the long run. But in the future, old batteries in a vehicle will be discarded because the batteries cannot be recycled. This will be a serious question in the future, what will happen to the environment if there is a dumping of old batteries?
Audi seems to have found a solution to this. They partnered with Numan, a German-Indian startup to recycle electric car batteries and use them on electric rickshaws. The batteries used are from Audi E-Tron cars that are no longer in use.
This electric rickshaw is specially designed with a battery compartment with protection from water splashes. For charging, charging stations will have solar panels for clean energy sources.
This rickshaw will be used in India starting in 2023, it will be offered to local women to deliver goods to the market. This electric rickshaw will also be an experiment for used batteries so that they can be reused as backup power storage for other uses. If the same battery on this rickshaw expires, it is said to be able to be used as a power source for LED lights.
Audio’s intent here is, electric car batteries can be used many times on other products and they are not wasted into electronic waste.
