Meta announced a new set of features for Reels on Facebook and Instagram. One of them is increasing the duration of Instagram Reels to 90 seconds.
Previously, the duration of Instagram Reels was limited to 60 seconds. So with this update, Instagram users can create Reels videos that are 15, 30, 60 or 90 seconds long.
The choice of duration offered by Instagram Reels is still too short when compared to TikTok. As a pioneer of short videos, TikTok continues to increase the video duration limit to 10 minutes.
In addition, Instagram is also bringing several Stories features to Reels, including Poll, Quiz, and Emoji slider sticker. These features will be available as Reels features.
Instagram Reels users can also add their own audio. This option allows users to add comments or background sound from videos that are at least five seconds long stored in the phone gallery.
Instagram also announced its long-awaited feature, Templates. This feature allows users to create new Reels videos using the same structure as existing videos, so users simply insert their content into existing slots.
This feature began to be developed last April and is similar to the features that already existed on TikTok before. But with Reels Templates, users can use existing video and audio structures.

Facebook Reels users will also be able to add voiceovers to their videos. Content creators can also use the new editing features on the desktop to edit their lengthy content and turn it into Reels content. Creators can also now create, edit, and schedule Facebook Reels from the desktop.
Finally, Facebook will start recommending more Reels content to users' feeds. Reels will start flooding the main Facebook page, just like how Reels continues to be promoted on Instagram.
