Data Leaks: Sites Under MITI Seen Revealing the Personal Data of Millions of Employees

Previously, in speeding up the vaccination process, the government through MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry), has held a PIKAS program that provides vaccination facilities. This is to ensure that the economy can operate quickly again.

At that time, employers need to upload employee data documents in obtaining vaccinations and so on. Whatever it is, now, through a CodeBlue report referring to Dr Suresh Ramasamy’s partnership, it is seen PIKAS system servers are vulnerable giving access to millions of employee data.

The data involved includes name, position, telephone number, identity card number and some other data.

At the time of writing, the PIKAS system was no longer accessible, and Dr Suresh through his partnership stated that CyberSecurity Malaysia had been notified - and the vulnerability had been addressed.

It is not known how long the server was left exposed before, and whether the data was downloaded by irresponsible parties. As usual, the public is advised to be vigilant and check various things if contacted by anyone.

This new partnership comes after last May, we reported on the data of many Malaysians being sold on the web arena openly.
