It seems that subscription plans for smartphones are already a trend. Google has a Pixel Pass, where subscribers own a Google Pixel along with their digital services. Apple is also reported to be offering the same service for as low as RM148 a month.
Recently, Fairphone has come up with Fairphone Easy to subscribe to their Fairphone 4. Their subscription is available for as low as € 21 (~ RM96) a month if subscribed for five years. Then if users own this Fairphone 4 device longer, it will be cheaper.
Each customer also does not have to pay to repair the device if it is damaged. Even if damage occurs, other devices that have been restored will be delivered within 48 hours. The damaged device will be evaluated, whether it can be repaired or can be used as a spare part to be restored and given to other customers who have damaged the device.
This subscription is also for the Fairphone 4 8/256 GB which is priced at € 649 (~ RM2969). While the warranty is for life, free repairs and free spare parts are limited to a few times only. With € 21 (~ RM96) a month, it would be around RM5760 for a five -year plan compared to continuing to buy the device at RM2969.

This is definitely a good idea. Especially for users who care about nature and use a device in the long run. It is also offered in the Netherlands only for now and there are no plans to expand to other countries.
