Geely Founder Joint Venture Buys Majority Stake In Meizu

 


Earlier this year, we heard initial reports regarding a joint venture company owned by founder Geely in talks to take over phone company Meizu.


Now, Reuters reports that the joint venture company has now acquired a 79% stake in smartphone maker Meizu.


Speaking of which, Geely says there is a very close connection between technology on vehicles and smartphones.

As many are aware, various cars are now moving towards electricity, while integrating various smart features. Of course Geely, which has a number of vehicle brands under them-including Proton, does not want to be left behind in the arena and gain technological expertise through this acquisition.


As always, let's wait and see what Geely's next steps will be in this arena, and how Meizu will return to prominence in the smartphone arena.
