The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been shown as a battery-powered electric car (BEV) using the E-GMP platform. This is the same BEV platform as used on the Ioniq 5 which just entered the Malaysian market a few weeks ago.
The Ioniq 6 uses various elements from the Hyundai Prophecy EV concept shown earlier. Aerodynamic body design with an air friction coefficient of only 0.21. To achieve this low level of air friction Hyundai uses a camera in a small wing as a replacement for side mirrors and an adaptive system that flows air automatically. In the cockpit two large side LCD screens become a replacement to the side mirrors.
The vehicle is equipped with a 12 ″ dual-screen. One is used by drivers to view driving information as well as car status. Another is used for vehicle entertainment systems with touch screens. The cockpit is equipped with an LED lighting system that can be changed by the user according to the mood. Extremely futuristic like a cyberpunk neon movie.
The retro futuristic Parametric Pixels boxed lighting system from Ioniq 5 is applied once again to the front and rear lights. The vehicle will be officially launched in July with prices yet to be announced. Hyundai is already committed to entering the fully electric vehicle arena with fossil fuel engine developers having been completely shut down last year.
