iPhone 14 Pro Coming Legacy Android Features

iPhone seems to be coming soon with new features that previously existed on Android phones. The latest news says that Apple will bring the always-on display (AOD) feature on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

According to a report by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple will introduce improvements to the Lock Screen in iOS 16. These improvements will form the basis for future features, including an always-on mode, as quoted from The Verge, Tuesday (31/5/2022).

Gurman said that the always-on mode on the iPhone will be the same as the Apple Watch Series 5 and later versions. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can lower the screen refresh rate when always-on mode is activated, so the screen can still be on but still save battery.

To be able to bring the always-on feature, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be equipped with LTPO technology which can lower the refresh rate to a very low level. It is not yet known whether the iPhone will use the same LTPO technology as the Apple Watch.

The presence of the always-on display feature on the iPhone has actually been rumored for a long time but has not materialized. In 2020, analysts predict the iPhone 13 will launch with LTPO technology that enables an always-on display.

Even though this feature has become one of the mandatory features on flagship Android phones. Usually on Android devices, the always-on display can display information such as clock, battery, widgets, notifications, and others without needing to unlock the screen.

Gurman predicts iOS 16 will bring an always-on display with the same functionality, including wallpapers with widget-style capabilities. Because it requires special technology and specifications, the always-on display will be an exclusive feature for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

As is known, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are the first iPhones to come with a 120Hz ProMotion screen thanks to the adoption of LTPO technology that allows variable refresh rates. Currently, the refresh rate on iPhone screens with the 120Hz ProMotion feature can vary between 10Hz and 120Hz.

On the other hand, the LTPO panels used by Android phone vendors such as Samsung and Oppo can be lowered to 1Hz when used to view still images or when the device is locked.

Apple will introduce iOS 16 at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 6. Given that this event will be held in a week, we don't have to wait long to hear updates about the latest operating system for Apple devices
