Japanese Company Sends Hamsters Into Stratosphere As Space Tourism Experiment

A Japanese company is now experimenting with sending a hamster rat into the stratosphere via an air balloon. The experiment was seen to be completely successful, with the hamster returning to the location safely.

Through experiments, the hamster was placed in a special cabin, before being sent to the air on June 9. During the trip, the cabin is fully monitored in terms of oxygen levels, atmospheric pressure, temperature and so on.

The stratosphere is the layer of the Earth's atmosphere located between 10-50km above the Earth's surface. It is said to offer a similar experience to space at this altitude, and is able to see the spherical Earth.

The Japanese company, Iwatani Giken, is a company that focuses on cabin design - and is currently experimenting with friendly designs for space travel.
