TikTok is launching a new screen time control feature that can help users to manage and know how much time they spend scrolling apps.
TikTok has also added an in-app Dashboard that will display statistics such as how much time a user spends on the app, when the user views the app the most, and how often it is opened.
In addition, TikTok users can now set a screen time limit for how long they can use the app at a time as reported by us from Engadget, Friday (10/6/2022).
Previously, TikTok had offered control of screen time out after a set daily limit. But with the new settings, users can for example, choose to have apps remind them to take a break if they have been open for a long time.
This TikTok update comes after facing questions about the impact their app has on teens. Earlier this year, lawmakers in the Senate introduced legislation that would increase studies of social media addiction in a bid to put up more guardrails to protect younger users.
Notably, TikTok is now saying it will introduce additional screen time limits for teens between the ages of 13 and 17.
Today's teen users will see weekly digital health prompts and get additional screen time reminders when they've spent more than 100 minutes on the app.
