Russia And Belarus Are Only Allowed To Buy Processing Chips With Speed Below 25MHz From Taiwanese Companies

 


The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine is seen as causing many international companies to stop selling their products and services in the country. Among them are technology companies, FMCG and so on.


The Taiwanese government today announced that entities from Russia and Belarus are now only allowed to purchase processing chips with a speed of 25MHz and have a performance of only 5 GFLOPS.


This means that high-tech components will no longer be offered to these two countries, and it is now entering the list of electronic products that are, computers, telecommunications equipment, sensors, lasers, navigation equipment, maritime technology and so on.


To give context on how this will give issues to Russia and Belarus, the Sony PlayStation 2 gaming console processing chip launched in 2000 comes with a performance of around 6.32GFLOPS.


Apart from modern processing chips, the two countries also cannot purchase additional equipment such as scanners and electron microscopes as well as devices that can be used to build their own processing chips.
