Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 May Be Launched This November

Qualcomm has started using new names for processing chips used on mobile devices. The Snapdragon 8xx is now the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Snapdragon 7xx is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and so on with the use of the Gen name as the new version.

The “+” variation is also still going on with names like Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The latest GSMArena finds that Qualcomm will probably launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip next November.

This information was obtained from Qualcomm’s own website, which states the Snapdragon Summit event will take place on November 14-17. The event information has however been deleted from their website, so it’s not sure if it was accidental or an uncertain date.

We previously reported that the Xiaomi 13 will probably launch next November. So it’s probably true the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will probably launch around the same date. The new chip is rumored to use a 1+2+2+3 configuration of 1X Cortex X2, 2X Cortex-A720, 2X Cortex-A7210 and 3X Cortex-A510 CPUs. This is also matched with the Adreno 740 GPU with 4nm build.

We haven’t tasted the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 device yet and now a new version has been heard. If this date is true, Qualcomm seems to be launching their chips earlier than before which are regularly launched around December.
