Sony and Honda are ready to announce plans to work together and set up an automotive company focusing on electric vehicles previously. Following on from that, today it was announced, the company will be known as Sony Honda Mobility Inc.
The company will be established in Tokyo, Japan by the end of 2020, with a target to start selling vehicles as early as 2025.
Both companies, Sony and Honda will hold as much as 50% on this new company. Sony will provide expertise in imaging, sensors, telecommunications, networking, and other technologies - while Honda will share expertise in environmental technology, security, vehicle development, vehicle body design, and even after -sales management experience.
With this move, various electric vehicles are expected to be marketed by this new company. Sony itself has previously showcased two of their electric vehicles. It is not known whether the two electric cars will be marketed under this new company, or we will see the introduction of new models by this company.
