This Is Your Voice When You're On Mars, Try It Here!

Missions around Mars have begun to be echoed by many countries. The goal is clear, to explore what is on the Red Planet. One of them is research that focuses on the speed of sound on Mars.

During a discussion at the 182nd Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, study co-author Baptiste Chide of the Los Alamos National Lab described some of the sounds recorded by Perseverance. You can listen to some examples below.

The atmosphere on Mars is 1% clearer than Earth, making the sound about 20 decibels lower than on Earth. In addition, carbon dioxide levels on Mars tend to be better at attenuating high-pitched sounds with distance.

Researchers note that most of the sound on Mars comes from the wind, the rest is very quiet.

"So quiet that, at some point, we thought the microphone was broken!" Chide, said in a statement.

If you are curious about what your voice on Mars will sound like, you can try going directly to the NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) website. Record your voice and you will get the result immediately.
