What prevents me from using TikTok is that the video format is vertical and too many interface elements are displayed on the screen while the video is playing. It looks like a bush when compared to YouTube for example. According to a TechCrunch report, TikTok is currently testing a new, cleaner video display without account information, audio sources, captions and comments.
With this new interface, users can select Clear Mode from the app settings. When played TikTok now looks like any other video streaming app because the content is displayed without any other elements.
Currently only a small number of users are given the opportunity to test it. Hopefully it will be given to more users as it is a feature I personally want right now as well.
