World's Fastest Internet Speed Record Now 1 petabit/s - 8.2 Million Times Faster Than Malaysia

The world's fastest Internet speed record was broken with it reaching 1 petabit per second (Pb/s) and recorded by researchers from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) in Japan. NICT broke their own world record of 319 terabits/s set in July 2021. This puts their latest record three times faster than the previous record.

The average broadband Internet speed in Malaysia at this time is 122.74Mbps according to Speedtest in April. So the world's fastest Internet speed record is now 8.147 million times faster than the national average Internet speed.

NICT researchers achieved this extremely high speed through the use of fiberglass cables with four cores. Fiberglass cables commonly used today have only one core. With more cores, more data can be sent simultaneously.

High speed can not only be enjoyed using this NICT technology but also successfully done with a total distance of 51.7 km through the use of signal amplifier. Because new fiberglass technology is still in full swing, higher speeds will definitely be achievable in the near future.
