Google is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Google Play by giving it a new logo, with slightly dimmer colors and lower saturation than before.
With this color, the Google Play logo is now more in line with other Google services logos, especially in green, yellow, blue, and red. However, the shape of the logo itself remains the same as before, complementing the Chrome logo which was also recently updated this year.
"We're introducing a new logo that better reflects the magic of Google and is similar to the branding used in our other products -- Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more," said Tian Lim, VP of Google Play.
This new logo according to Google marks 10 years of Google Play's presence since its name was changed from the Android Market in 2012.
"A decade later, more than 2.5 billion people in 190 countries use Google Play every month to search for apps, games and digital content. And there are more than 2 million developers working with us to build their businesses and be there for people. around the world," Lim added.
To mark Google Play's 10-year presence, Google is also offering Google Play Points upgrades. If you activate this booster, the date is different for each country, you can get ten times more points for every purchase on Google Play.
However, Google did not explain why July 25 was chosen as Google Play's birthday, considering that Google Play actually started to exist since March 2012 (not July 2012), where the service became the face for a number of Google products such as Google Books, Google Music, and Google Movies. .
But later in its development, many of these services were removed and replaced by other services. For example Play Music which is now gone, Play Movies turned into Google TV. You could say that only Play Books are still surviving.
