Koss filed a lawsuit against Apple in 2020 for allegedly using their wireless earphone technology patent without permission. This week and days before the case went to trial, Apple reportedly settled the case out of court on undisclosed terms and the company.
Koss filed a lawsuit against Apple, Bose and PEAG LLC (which produces audio equipment for Plantronics and Skullcandy) in July 2020. According to Koss various patents they own are now being used by those companies to produce their audio accessories.
In 2012, Koss launched Striva which was marketed as the world's first wireless WiFi earphone to solve the problem of bluetooth not being able to provide a satisfactory audio experience Various patents were filed when developing Striva. Although Striva was unsuccessful, Koss believes the five patented technologies were used without permission by the sued companies.
