Apple Reportedly Cancels Sale of Mac Pro M1 Because It Wants to Sell It With M2 Chip

Apple Mac Pro is an Apple-powered computer for professional use that is sold at a maximum price of over RM200k. However, with the introduction of Apple Silicon such as the M1 and M2 series which are proven to be more powerful and efficient than Intel chips, the Mac Pro will also stop using Intel chips.

Last February we reported that Apple is developing a Mac Pro with a chip that is 4 times more powerful than the Apple M1 Max. Then after a month, they came with the more powerful Apple M1 Ultra chip and announced the presence of the new Mac Pro.

Recently, Mark Gurman stated that Apple already has Mac Pro with M1 series Apple Silicon chip but canceled the intention to sell it. This is because they want to replace it with the M2 Extreme version which is still in development.

The Mac Studio already uses the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips, so for the Mac Pro which is supposed to be a powerful device – they might want to differentiate the two devices by using different chips. If they already have a compact Mac Studio already using the powerful M1, who wants to buy a Mac Pro with the same chip?

The new Mac Pro is expected to be launched in 2023. While the M2 chip for computers will be used on the Mac Mini with the same design first. Let's all look forward to what Apple will do for their Mac Pro and Mac Mini later.
