Bill Gates wants to stop being a rich man, everyone wants to donate wealth

Bill Gates promised to give more of his wealth to philanthropic causes, so that he would eventually be off the list of the world's richest people.

With a net worth of over USD 100 billion and currently the 5th richest man in the world, Bill Gates has the potential to make a lot of money.

"When I look to the future, I plan to give almost all of my wealth to the foundation (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). I will go down and eventually get off the list of the richest people in the world," Gates tweeted via his Twitter account as seen Sunday (17). /7/2022).

I am very proud of the foundation's role in helping solve big problems like preventing pandemics, reducing childhood deaths, eradicating diseases, improving food security and climate adaptation, achieving gender equality, and improving educational outcomes.https://t.co/D8rJrdoPOE

This statement comes as Gates vows to make a $20 billion donation to the philanthropic fund he founded with his ex-wife Melinda, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The foundation has a lot to do, but they say its main goal is to improve human health and reduce extreme poverty around the world.

Gates also explained that about half of the foundation's resources actually come from Warren Buffett, the 8th richest person in the world. In an accompanying blog post, he wrote that the charitable foundation aims to spend $9 billion annually by 2026.

He said this was a response to major problems the world had experienced in recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, political polarization in the US, and the growing impact of climate change.

"Against this backdrop, the pandemic is one of the greatest setbacks in history," Gates wrote.
