deal! Buzz Aldrin's Apollo 11 Jacket Sold for USD 2.8 million, Here's the Photo

The jacket worn by US astronaut Buzz Aldrin on a mission to the moon is auctioned. The jacket sold for USD 2.8 million. This is how it looks.

Apollo 11 astronaut (L-R) Colonel Edwin Buzz Aldrin, lunar module pilot Neil Armstrong and flight commander Lieutenant Michael Collins stand beside their spacecraft in 1969.

This jacket was auctioned and then up to USD 2.8 million. The jacket is part of a private collection for the 92-year-old astronaut to sell.

Looks like the jacket is still in good condition. NASA logo on right pocket. The jacket sold at auction for almost USD 2.8 million or USD 2,772,500 to be precise.

Visitors take pictures of these historical memorabilia. According to auction house Sotheby's, the Apollo 11 Inflight Coverall Jacket is the most expensive collection of all private objects brought into space.

The unnamed auction winner, who participated by telephone, beat several others in a bid that lasted just 10 minutes.

The jacket features the Aldrin name tag on the left chest above the Apollo 11 mission emblem, and the American flag on the left shoulder. It was made of a fire-resistant material known as Beta fabric that was tucked into the spacesuit in response to a fire that killed three astronauts aboard Apollo 1 in 1967, according to Sotheby's.

Aldrin and Neil Armstrong became the first astronauts to walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.
