A year ago DeepMind produced the AlphaFold intelligence that can predict all the combinations of structures that can be produced on the face of the earth. For decades scientists have had trouble finding combinations of protein structures because there are too many combinations to choose from.
DeepMind is now publishing all 200 million possible protein structures in the world discovered by AlphaFold through the collaboration of the EMBL European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). Since AlphaFold began sharing the structures it discovered publicly a year ago, more than 500,000 scientists have accessed its database. The result is the development of better antibiotics and solutions to the problem of plastic pollution have been successfully produced.
These predicted protein structures are for plants, bacteria, animals and other organisms. This effort is expected to further advance the understanding of biology and help solve the issue of food sources and diseases that still cannot be treated.
Deepmind has so far been used to make more accurate weather forecasts, interpret incomplete ancient texts and produce programs as good as human programmers.
